A Bible Story of Sorts

Kedrick: "Mom! Mom!"
Mom: "Yes, Kedrick?"
Kedrick: "I was a pirate!"
Mom: "You were? What happened?"
Kedrick: "I was on a pirate ship, then I jumped in the water, then a whale swallowed me and it spit me out on land."
Mom: "Really? Like Jonah?"
Kedrick: "Yeah."
Mom: "Were you running from God?"
Kedrick: "No, I was running from Jesse (our dog). Jesse was a bad guy. Then I told my people."
Mom: "What did you tell your people?"
Kedrick: "To be nice."
Mom: "Oh. And to obey God?"
Kedrick: "Sure."

Daddy Fun

I keep trying to think of something clever to say about Damie and his ingenious methods of play, but words fail me. I can't even come up with a creative title for this post. Fortunately, these pictures speak for themselves...

I bought a Moby wrap baby carrier because I had heard such great things about them from my friend Jen. I finally found one on sale, so I eagerly purchased it. I didn't have a choice on the color. I love that even though it is a very feminine, rose color, Damie was eager to try it out too.

Puppet Shows

Since I have been busy cuddling and caring for Eva instead of filling the cold winter days with fun activities, the boys have been left to entertain themselves. Their creativity has most recently expressed itself in the form of puppet shows.

This morning, pulling the play kitchen away from the wall, Kedrick did a puppet show from behind the kitchen, using the space between the sink and the cabinets as a stage. Gramma, Victor, Eva and I sat in kiddie-chairs, positioned in front of the kitchen-stage to watch the story unfold.

The sink was a lake...the home of a very hungry, pink hippo. A finger puppet, hanging from a string, attached in a pully-like fashion to the microwave above, was dodging the aggressive attacks of the killer hippo. In a dramatic twist, the puppet fell in the lake, but quickly escaped back to the rope, with help from the puppet-master.

Last week, Victor and Kedrick used a toy box for their theater. As you can see, Woody and Clifford were the performers.

About Eva: One Month

Eva is a sweet, sweet baby. I love to hold her, which is convenient because she always wants to be held. She eats frequently and already weighs around ten pounds. Her sweet little cry sounds like a bird. She is a bit more particular than the boys and already seems to have a strong sense of what she wants. She has captivated us all.

Costumes

The boys love to dress up. They often mix their outfits up a bit for variety. Yesterday, Kedrick had on reindeer antlers, a pirate eye patch, and a superman breastplate. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture.

On one particular day, the boys started out as astronauts and finished out the day as a firefighter and a pirate.
